It again looks really nice and promissing, but it does not provide internet access, no wifi. Actually hardly any phone coverage, but without wifi it is simply to expensive.
So no more vanity posts from our hollidays untill we stumble on a wifi connection.
When we get to the beach, beachtoys are in order, so we bought Anna the essentials
Somehow she is not impressed, she expected something bigger perhaps?
Still it is a nice beach!
Food was great as well, menu of the day included oysters , yumm and I like the presentation of mascha's main course
And finally Abels verdict on the progress of anna's injury
We started the day in the pool, not to cold Abel and i decided after all.
Refreshed we were off to see some caves, there were a few we could decide from so naturally we went for the dinosaur cave.
Once there we discivered an interesting fact: paper machee is alive and kicking as an artform in this region!
Abel enjoyed himself tremendously with the soundtrack of jurassic park in the background, Anna thouht it was all ratyer comical, Mascha and me thought it was simply hilarious. So poorly done and so plain wrong. Great stuff!
So all in all an interesting day;-)
Today it is Flint's birthday, Flint looks like a taller version of Abel and is six years old today (friday, 24th, still at chez gendron).
so there was cake in the morning
Then off we wento 'the castle of enigmas' where we all went on a treasure hunt with all kinds of fun activities you had to do to find all the right clues. We thought this was great fun!
And in the evening there was the birthday dinner!
And to top it off! DISCO!!!!!!!
Tommorrow we are off to our new campsite, long day traveling and I hope they provide WIFI connections....
After a fairly stormy night with not a lot of sleep the day started quietly, Flint came over to play with Abel outside the tent
Then we were off to Bordeaux, a really beautifull and friendly city. We were lucky since it was quite busy, some anual market...
We lunched at a really nice place where when we asked for the menu we simply were presented with the plat du jour, very tasty and easy to decide!
For obvious reasons we only give abel icecream that matches his shirt
Then along the waterfront there was this amazing area, a water mirror.
This is a long stretch which was flooded with fountains etc periodically and a popular spot on a hot day. What a great idea!
Still owe you a picture of last nights fireworks, not a good picture but you get the flavour. There were stars out where i was standing but great fire works in the valley.
Again not a great picture but made with my phone, so not bad really
So yesterday we were off to the Zoo, since we will visit any zoo we can find I am pretty sure we will visit 2 more at the next campsites.
To Abels amazement everyone was feeding popcorn(sugared) to the elephants. He thought this wasa great idea though we felt it might nkt be part of their natural diett and did not lat him feed the animals. Bit surprising seeing everyone else do it really.
Some great animals there though, most noteably the polar bears, neurotic so always moving in the same pattern. this has the advantage that they are easy to fotograph;-)
And you could pet a turtle...
But the collest thing was yet to happpen. In the evening there was karaoke at the campsite and anna went there to see a few of her friends perform.
When i later went to pick her up to brush anna and abels teeth i was very surprised to see Anna's hand go up when the question came : anyone else?
She had not seen us, so did she plan this all day ;-)?
So she roped one of her friends in and sang 'everyday' from highschool musical.
Her friend had never even heard of the song, poor thing...
So i texted Mascha to hurry over and of ANna went!
She clearly had a great time and we were glad to be there off course.
For any die hard fans i could post a recording of her singing along though it is not very clear.
Oh and about those thunderstorms in the night? Thanks, you can stop now we have had enough...
The morning kicked off well, fairly late out of bed and free table football, some friends have arrived and Anna and Abel have new playmates. Here is Abel playing with Flint and getting his ass kicked, not being able to see the actual playing service plays a part i think
Since it was a really hot day and the swimming pool is not really an option with Anna not allowed to swim, we decided to go to Blaye in search of icecream.
There we went on a short 'train' ride, which was boring, unless treated as a rollercoaster, much better!
Then we went to montendre where they have an evening market and loads of outdoor eating, Great!

After a plus 40 degrees day a much welcomed thunderstorm has arrived!
Flush out the heat and musquitoes pls!
New day, plan is to go to the Aquarium today, see the sharks! Great weather and a nice lie in, to late for the bread... Oh well.

It is actually pretty cool, the sharks flee from Abel and Anna wherever they run.
